Animal (open) house

Animal (open) house

The public is invited to visit the College of Veterinary Medicine, the state’s only veterinary medicine college and teaching hospital, for a full day of educational demonstrations, tours and more. The open house, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 14, was organized by UF veterinary students to give the public an inside look at the daily life of veterinarians and veterinarians-to-be. Visitors will have the opportunity to see educational demonstrations about echocardiograms, dialysis and endoscopy. They will also be able to see dogs on an underwater treadmill, the Gainesville Police Department’s mounted unit, agility dog demonstrations, an animal rescue demonstration by the State Agricultural Response team and much more. There also will be an adoptathon with local shelter animals and a teddy bear clinic for children. The college is located at 2015 SW 16th Ave., Gainesville. For more information, visit vetmed.ufl.edu.
