New chair named for biostatistics

Peihua Qiu, Ph.D., a statistics professor at the University of Minnesota, will become the founding chair of the department of biostatistics at UF when he assumes his new position on July 1. The new department is administered by both the colleges of Medicine and of Public Health and Health Professions. Qiu is an elected fellow of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and a member of the International Statistical Institute.
