College of Dentistry

Deborah Dilbone, D.M.D., was recently appointed interim chair of the department of restorative dental sciences. Dilbone, a clinical assistant professor, joined the college in 1994 and has served as the director of the department’s operative division since January 2013.

Marcio Guelmann, D.D.S., professor and chair of the department of pediatric dentistry, was recently appointed interim associate dean for clinical affairs and quality. His associate dean responsibilities include overseeing patient care and clinical operations, ensuring that patient care is delivered in an effective, safe environment and assuring that the college remains compliant with federal and state regulations relating to health, safety, patient billing and patient privacy.

Shannon Wallet, Ph.D., an associate professor in oral biology, was recently appointed associate dean for faculty affairs. She is responsible for supporting college faculty through various functions, including career development, orientation, mentoring and recognition programs, overseeing promotion and tenure, and assisting with faculty recruitment.

College of Medicine

Christopher Cogle, M.D., a member of the UF Health Cancer Center and an associate professor of medicine in the department of medicine, and his research team were selected as one of two runners-up in Harvard Business School’s Precision Trials Challenge, an online competition to generate ideas on how to bring precision diagnostics and therapies to market faster by reinventing the clinical trials process.

David Tran, M.D., Ph.D., chief of the neuro-oncology division in the department of neurosurgery and member of the UF Health Cancer Center, has been awarded a $1.78 million grant from the Florida Department of Health’s Bankhead-Coley Cancer Research Program to develop new strategies to target disseminated tumor cells in triple negative breast cancer.
