Walk a mile, protect a child

Child abuse is reported every 10 seconds. Five children die every day as a result of abuse. Help raise awareness of this issue by participating in the annual “Walk a Mile, Protect a Child” 5K walk/run, sponsored by the UF Child Protection Team. Three separate runs will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Village at Haile Plantation in Gainesville, Chances for Children in Lake City and in downtown Brooksville. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The walk/run aims to raise awareness about child abuse and to raise money toward prevention efforts and research-based training. For more information, visit ufcpt.org.
