flu shots

UF students came out in droves for free flu shots, T-shirts and other giveaways at the UF Student Health Care Center’s flu shot kickoff event, held Sept. 20, on the Infirmary Building front lawn. By the end of the event at 2 p.m., the center had provided 1,044 flu vaccines, doubling the numbers of students vaccinated at last year’s kickoff event. “Flu shots help everyone by keeping overall infection rates low,” said Catherine A. Seemann, a communications coordinator for the Student Health Care Center. “And the last thing a busy student needs is to be sick — or to have a sick roommate.” UF students can still obtain free flu shots at the SHCC Infirmary Building or at the Student Health Care Center’s satellite clinic at UF Health on a walk-in basis. Outreach clinics around campus also will provide free flu shots for students throughout October. For more information about flu shots in general, visit shcc.ufl.edu/services/primary-care/flu/.
