C’MON GATORS, GET UP AND DONATE!

Show your team spirit while saving lives. LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is asking Gator fans to donate blood from Nov. 18-28 in the UF Health Shands Clinical Atrium. Those interested can donate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. To be eligible to donate blood, a person must be in good health and generally must be at least 17 years of age and weigh 103 pounds or more. A person must not have donated within the past 56 days. Donating blood not only saves others’ lives, but also benefits the donor. Each time a person donates blood, LifeSouth checks the donor’s blood pressure, blood iron level, pulse and cholesterol. Donating blood is believed to aid the rejuvenation of red blood cells and helps to control blood iron levels, and can reduce the risk of heart disease, especially in men.
