Talia started GLAM WARS because she knew how much makeup helped her self confidence while she was battling cancer. GLAM WARS is now a program that teaches young girls how to apply makeup to help them feel pretty and confident.

Miah Wheeler, 3, gets makeup tips from Lea Montes, a makeup artist from Orlando, during a GLAM WARS session hosted by Talia’s Legacy Children’s Cancer Foundation at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. GLAM WARS teaches young female patients how to apply makeup to help them feel empowered as they fight childhood cancer. In the last year, the foundation also has incorporated fun options for boys using superhero and warrior masks. The children’s hospital was selected for a GLAM WARS visit in memory of Talia Joy Castellano, who received a bone marrow transplant here but lost her battle with a rare form of childhood cancer in 2013. During her cancer journey, she shared makeup tips on YouTube, where her channel has grown to more than 1 million subscribers and counting. Visit taliaslegacy.org for more information.— Lauren Gajda
