Access to emergency care expands
By Morgan Sherburne
UF Health Emergency Center – Kanapaha opened Sept. 26 at 7405 SW Archer Road with around-the-clock physicians trained and board-certified in emergency medicine. The 10,881-square-foot freestanding emergency room is a designated 911 ambulance-receiving facility with 14 exam spaces, a second triage room and a security officer station. The E.R. is also fully equipped to provide the same level of emergency care as a hospital E.R. If patients need further care or admission to the hospital the transition of care to the UF Health Shands E.R. on the main hospital campus will be seamless. During fiscal year 2016, the UF Health Shands Adult Emergency Room logged 66,218 visits, the pediatric emergency room logged 25,595 visits and UF Health Shands Emergency Center — Springhill logged 27,062 visits.
