UF Health Jacksonville rises in national ranking of hospitals
UF Health Jacksonville’s ranking among academic medical centers in the U.S. rose 33 spots in the latest Vizient rankings. UF Health Jacksonville is now ranked 44th in the country, with major improvements in five of the six categories measured. The hospital improved in the areas of mortality, effectiveness, safety, efficiency and equity.
The Vizient Quality and Accountability study is considered the most credible analysis of its kind.
UF Health ranked among “Best Places to Work” in survey
UF Health has placed 21st in Indeed.com’s 2017 “Best Places to Work” ranking among U.S. hospitals or health systems. The ranking is based on employee reviews written on Indeed, a popular search engine for job postings, between July 2015 and June 2017. UF Health, including UF Health Shands Hospital, is one of four health systems in Florida to be ranked in the top 25. Learn about medical care during the Civil War
The UF Health Science Center Library is presenting a series of exhibits focusing on medicine during the Civil War era. Through December, traveling exhibits from the National Library of Medicine will be on display on the first floor of the Communicore Building. The exhibits are “Life and Limb: The Toll of the American Civil War,’’ “Binding Wounds, Pushing Boundaries: African-Americans in Civil War Medicine,’’ and a locally created exhibit on the war’s impact on veterans, disabled people and African-Americans.
